About Wedding Flowers
Flowers comprise a major portion of the decorations and accents for most weddings.
They also account for a large portion of the wedding budget. Ordering your wedding flowers involves more than simply picking out your favorite type of flower. Take time before you consult with your florist to determine what you want. Preparing before you order the flowers ensures you will get everything you need while staying within your budget.
1)Create a floral budget.
First determine your main priority for the wedding. Are you most concerned about your dress? Or maybe the location or photographer? Or is it your table centerpieces? Set your budget accordingly.
Keep in mind that the bridal bouquet is often the focal point of the flowers for a wedding and most designers will create ideas around it.
2)List all the flowers you might need.
The list typically includes the bride's bouquet, bridesmaids' bouquets, boutonnieres for the groomsmen and fathers/grandfathers, corsages for mothers/grandmothers, altar arrangements, aisle décor, and reception floral arrangements (such as table centerpieces for guestbook table, cake table, place card table, bar etc) . You might also include a throw-away bouquet to toss at the reception and flowers or petals for the flower girl.
It helps to know how many in the bridal party and approximately how many tables at the reception.
3)Schedule an appointment with your florist.
Bridal consultations are free. By scheduling an appointment you will be guaranteed to get one-on-one uninterrupted time with your florist. This enables us to get an understanding of your vision for the wedding and allows you to get to know our style as well. The earlier you book this the better as some dates do fill up especially in the peak summer season.
4)Determine your personal style for the wedding.
Browse through bridal magazines and cut out photos of specific types of flowers, colors, and styles that jump out to you. Bring these photos with you to your bridal consult.
5)Attend your bridal consult.
Give us your budget and approximately what you are hoping to get for that budget. We will work out most of the preliminary details on colors, flowers, and style at this meeting (if you have a wedding planner, bring her/him along as well). We will also nail out the details of time, place, and pick-up/delivery options.
After the consultation we will draw up a proposal and email it to you. At this point, any changes/suggestions can be made until we’ve both come to an agreement on price and products. A contract will be formed and signed, along with a 50% deposit in order to hold the specified event date.
6)Changes. Changes can be made up to a week prior to the event when the flower order must be finalized. The second installment of 50% is due at this time.
